We are celebrating Poson 2020 adhering to the social distancing on Saturday, June 6th,
2020, from 7:30 am to 6:30 pm. Georgia Buddhist Vihara warmly invites you to be a
part of the Online Sil Program. Poson Poya is second only in importance to Vesak and
commemorates the introduction of Buddhism to Sri Lanka by the Arahat Mahinda in
the 3rd century B.C. Arahath Mahinda met King Devanampiyatissa at Mihintale,
a mountain peak near Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka, and delivered the
'Cula-hatthipadopama Sutta'. This is why Mihintale is often called 'the cradle of
Buddhism' in Sri Lanka.
